Today we began with warm-ups on page 520 (13 and 14) where we practiced finding the circumference and area of circles. We then checked Monday night's homework on Lesson 10-5 in the workbook, and students received their Luck O'The Irish graphs to take home to be signed. Parents, please ask to see these grades tonight. Homework for tonight is page 549 (1-7). Though it looks like only 7 problems, there are actually 13, as most problems ask for 2 answers, perimeter and area or circumference and area. Wednesday's warm-ups are on page 520 also, continuing the review of circles (15, 16, 17). We will then begin our study of probability of independent and dependent events. We will learn today how to estimate the likelihood of an event and compare probabilities. Read page 554-555. Then do page 556 (1-14) in regular math, and (1-20) in advanced math. On Thursday, we will review "the Big G," which contained our units of measurement for capacity: gallon, quart, pint, cup, and fluid ounces. We'll draw the "sweet 16" heart full of ounces, and the Big T for 2000 pounds in a ton! After checking homework, we will do workbook 11-1 in class, then page 551 (1, 2, 5, 6, 7, 9 and 10) for homework. Remember that Friday is a teacher workday. Any work that a student wishes to get credit for must be turned in by Thursday before they leave school, or it cannot be given credit. Report card averages will be finalized during the day on Friday.
