Happy Monday! Today we reviewed finding the area of a circle, with practice on page 520 (18, 19, and 20). We then made test corrections to last week's test on area and circumference. Students should get these tests signed tonight. In class, we learned to find the experimental probability of an event. Study the vocabulary on page 558-559 tonight, especially experiment, outcome, and sample space. Second period math should do Workbook Lesson 11-2, while other classes should do page 560-561 (1-14). On Tuesday, our warm-ups are on page 509 (#2). Then we will learn the difference between experimental and theoretical probability. We will read and discuss page 564-565, then do page 566-567 (1-33). Wednesday's warm-ups will be on page 509 (#3). We will check homework, then practice finding the theoretical probability of an event, using W0rkbook Lesson 11-3. The Mid-Chapter quiz on page 568 will be assigned and taken up for a grade on Thursday. On Thursday, we will continue to work on page 509, doing problem #4. We will collect the homework quiz on page 568. Then we will learn to make an organized list of all possible outcomes of an event. Study the examples on page 570 and the list on page 571. Then do page 572 (1-5, making tree diagrams or lists, and then #6-10, with answers only.) You do not need to make a list or tree for 6-10 if you feel you can do them using numbers only. Our math lesson on Friday, the Early Release day, will be a special lesson involving the viewing of the film, The Devil's Arithmetic. Students will work together in groups in homerooms to produce a graph. Talk with your group about this project if you are absent from school on that day. Have a great weekend!
