Friday, August 26: We began our unit on exponents today. Students will do a worksheet on exponents for homework over the weekend. We'll practice some more on Monday, and then take a very quick quiz on exponents on Tuesday. This quiz covers a very small amount of information, so it will be OK for us to quiz early.

Next Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, we will work on order of operations, and then take another short, quick quiz on that skill on Friday.

Regular math classes will deal with positive exponents only, while advanced classes will also study negative exponents, and learn the rules for multiplying and dividing with exponents, as well as working problems with exponents inside parentheses. Ask to see your child's class notes, so that you can see what each class is studying specifically.

First period math received their math books today. They need to make sure they keep up with these books, as they are very expensive to replace. Ask your child if their math book is locked
in their locker. Other class periods will receive their math books one day next week.

Remember to fill out and send back all forms in the green folders that you received during orientation. Thanks!
