Today we reviewed finding percents (using proportions) in our warm-ups (page 424, 39-42). Then we talked about parallel and perpendicular lines, as well as skew lines. (Read the text, page 336-337). We also talked about angle relationships that will be on our quiz tomorrow. (See page 341 of the text.) Tonight's homework is on page 338 (1-10) of the textbook, and Workbook Lesson 7-3.

On Wednesday, our warm-ups will be on page 424(43-45), then we will learn to classify triangles. (See page 344-345.) The homework is on page 346 (1-14). We will also take our quiz on angles. Remember, we are not using protractors to measure angles; rather, we are simply naming the angles.

Thursday's warm-ups are on page 424 again, problems 46-48. After checking homework, we will learn to transform geometric shapes, using translations, rotations, and reflections. Read pages 365-366, then do page 367 (1-17.)

Friday's classes will be slightly shorter, to allow time for a chorus performance in the morning. Our warm-ups will be on page 425 (49-51). We will then practice a transformation (#18 on page 386), then do workbook lesson 7-5 on angles and 7-10 on transformations. Any work not completed in class on Friday should be finished as homework over the weekend.

Today, we continued to learn about angles and pairs of angle relationships. We checked our homework on page 334-335, and did warm-ups on page 424 (35-38), a review of percents. Then we learned about transversals, alternate interior and alternate exterior angles, on page 341. Homework tonight is on page 335 (17-30). We will have a quiz early next week on angles.

This week we will begin learning how to find percent of a number, and to solve proportions involving percent. Tonight students will write percent proportions to solve word problems. At home they should read page 426-427, then do page 428 (1-10 for regular math and 7-22 for advanced.

On Tuesday, we will check our homework, then do Blue Diamond Assessment Number 6, on changing numbers from fractions to decimals to percents. Students will also learn to find percentages using the multiplication method. On this night they should do the Workbook Lesson 8-9. They will do some problems using proportions and some using multiplication.

On Wednesday, we will learn to compute taxes, discounts and tips. Students should read page 432-433, then complete problems on page 434 (1-9). We will have shortened classes on Wednesday due to our pep rally Wednesday afternoon. Go Cougars!!!!

On Thursday we will take our quiz on percents. Homework that night will be page 434-435 (10-16).

Finally, on Friday, we will practice solving word problems involving ratios, proportions, and percents, on page 438 (1-4) for classwork and page 439 (1-6) for homework. Remember that Friday is an Early Release Day and students will be dismissed at 12:30. Each class will last about 30 minutes. Have a great weekend!
